Today, I received an email to an email address I often use for personal business, like registering for gaming platforms. It was from Moonton, a Chinese gaming company for which I have NEVER signed up.

The email gave me an account code, and informed me someone was trying to alter information in my account.

The account I don’t have.

Checking their library of games, I’ve never even HEARD of any of them.

I never received an email when the account was created, which means either Moonton doesn’t verify email addresses like they claim, or the account change claim is some sort of phishing expedition.

I don’t trust Chinese companies. I don’t trust Chinese AIs. I refuse to use TikTok. Chinese companies have no protection from the Chinese government and the government can insist on any of their data any time they choose.

TikTok, for example, has already admitted to spying on journalists.

My advice? Don’t sign up for a gaming company in China. Don’t give your information to a foreign government currently insisting “Captain America must DIE IN CHINA!” The Chinese government is a hostile, unfriendly force that interferes in my country’s infrastructure.

This isn’t a political blog. I do not dislike Chinese people. In fact, most of the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean people I have met have all been fantastic human beings. (Just like most of the Indians, Greeks, Spanish, Irish and Americans I’ve met) But the government? We all remember Tiananmen Square.

If you trust your information in the hands of the Chinese government, that’s your business. All I can tell you is that anyone claiming to be me in a Moonton game is lying.
